"I needed the boost, I needed something that's going to elevate my music and the brand Prince Kaybee. I signed a deal that I thoroughly went through. It favoured me. I had no problem with that deal because it was tailormade for me, because I went through it and we did a whole back and forth with the label and finally we agreed. It worked well for me for eight years."
Prince Kaybee parted ways with Universal in April.
He revealed he no longer had any contractual obligations with it.
“The parties have agreed to mutually terminate the agreement with effect from April 3 2023 and UM releases you from the delivery of any further recordings in terms of the agreement. UM shall continue to commercially exploit the recordings, account and make payment (if due) to you in terms of the agreement. We thank you for the opportunity of working with us and we wish you every success in the future,” read the statement.
