Bishop Julius Moloi of Moja Love’s AmaBishop and Child Manyonyoba fame has denied taking money from anyone “under false pretences”.
On Sunday City Press reported he was avoiding paying a man named John Tshabalala from Klerksdorp after he allegedly scammed him into buying a house.
It is alleged he advertised an RDP house in a newspaper for R150,000 in Alabama Ext 3. However, when Moloi failed to produce the papers for the house, John said he became suspicious.
“There was a written agreement between me and the owner [Moloi] that indicated the rest of the money would be paid monthly through R5,000 instalments until it was settled.”
The agreement was reportedly entered into in 2018 and Moloi still owes John R67,500. However, John lost interest in the agreed-upon instalments.
“I do not want monthly instalments. I want all of it, the same way I gave [it to] him,” he told City Press.
Moloi denied lying to John: “I never took anyone’s money under false pretences. There is a legal process in place between his lawyers and I. I am paying his lawyers every month.”
TshisaLIVE approached his employers and Moja Love distanced themselves from the matter, saying it was Moloi's private matter.
“We can't comment on his personal matters as a channel,” said spokesperson Nonzwakazi Cekete.
