Media personality Dineo Ranaka was welcomed by loud cheers as she was getting ready to play her set at the Shisanyama festival in the US.
This was Dineo's first public performance after her hiatus.
She and a couple of other DJs have gone to represent Mzansi at the festival.
In the clip she shared she encouraged festival goers to be mindful of their mental health and to learn to prioritise themselves.
She broke her social media silence when she revealed she was diagnosed.
“I feel like I need to allow myself to reintroduce myself to myself because I’ve been a high-functioning person with depression. And this is dangerous. Very dangerous.
“I’ve been physically sick. Really physically sick. I’ve suspected myself to not be well for a bit over two months. And eventually I know why,” she wrote.
Dineo encouraged people who have experienced the same symptoms to seek help.
“Mental health is so insanely misunderstood because depression is not the absence of happiness, so essentially it is not sadness. It is the absence of vitality. Vitality being the zest to live.
“Generally, I don’t like long captions, but I didn’t have the energy to shoot a video for you. I’m taking time to myself to sort out the mess in different areas of my life. But hey, I’m doing it nonetheless.”
Dineo was met with messages of support when she opened up about her mental health struggles, revealing her battle with suicidal thoughts.
“I completely understand souls, spirits, people who commit suicide. I get it. I get them because I'm trying my best not to. My mind is so loud of late and life is f**king hard. So hard. I'm trying my best, but it seems my best is not enough. My children. My God,” she wrote.
