Seasoned radio and TV presenter Unathi Nkayi says she has apologised to her children and they are in a better place now.

This after her children made her realise the person she was a few years ago was unpleasant.

Taking to her Instagram timeline, she said in those years she was dealing with her divorce from ex-husband Thomas Msengana.

''My daughter and son over the weekend were reminding me of how different I was five to six years ago. My daughter started by laughing and saying ‘Snako, do you remember how Mom used to shout at us for everything about five to six years ago?’ They both laughed and told me how much they prefer the patient, kind and, most importantly, fun mom I am now.

''I explained to them the concept of ‘hurt people hurt people’ and transitioning through the divorce was hard for me. I apologised to them for the unfair treatment I clearly put them through and thanked them for holding me accountable for how I was then and how I made them feel,'' she wrote.

The media personality confirmed her divorce in 2017 during a TV interview on eNCA.

She recently spoke candidly about her relationship with Thomas in a tell-all interview with her friend and industry colleague Gareth Cliff on a new podcast titled Uncancelled.

“We get on well and we've always got on. We've realised we love each other better differently. We have lunch now, we have dinners, he comes over, he bakes. It's wonderful now.

“He's my greatest love. With great loves, you have to allow them to evolve as you evolve. I'm not the Unathi who he fell in love with at YFM. And he's not the Bad Boy T I fell in love with at YFM,” she said.
