Thanks to his stint on BET's Nkalakatha: The Life Of Mandoza, Lindo Sithole will now get to showcase both his acting and choreography skills.

He plays the role of General (real name Simphiwe Sibisi), a member of popular kwaito group Chiskop, in the biopic highlighting the early days of Mandoza's music career.

“This is my big break. Being a part of the show is just the most amazing experience ever. I never thought I'd get such an opportunity,” he tells TshisaLIVE.

“I've always said I don't want to do acting because I'm desperate to make money, but I want to do it because of the character they give me.

When he first got a call, they were in need of a choreographer but when he met the cast of the show during rehearsals the acrobatics he showcased on set made him the perfect fit for a role.

“In the Chiskop group. General was my favourite because of the things he used to do on stage.

“I've watched them perform at the Johannesburg stadium so it was a dream come true to watch them up close. So playing this role, I was excited more than anything. It was a great honour to meet him personally as well.”

Playing General, in the life story set to premier on August 16, was an eye-opening experience as some of the obstacles the star faced emulate his own life when he first got into the music industry.

“There was stuff that the guys did in the show that showed me my own mistakes in the music space when I was signed by DJ Cleo under 'The Teddy Bears' group.”

In the show, General gets offered his own deal and doesn't take it because of his loyalty to the group.

“I've once experienced it,” Lindo said

He's now cemented his brand in the music scene and says his fans have got a lot to anticipate.

“My brand is a family-orientated brand, and my music career is going so great. I finally found my niche.”
