DJ and music producer DJ Maphorisa has called on the government to assist amapiano artists get visas for countries where they are booked to perform.

Taking to his X timeline he said the department of arts & culture should help expedite the process.

“I love to see people growing, Amapiano artist/DJs are doing more international gigs now which means we represent Sauta. Arts and Culture should be doing something about this, we need your support not just money.

“We struggling with getting VISAS we spent too much money to get them. If you can create a system where we can get visas easy cause some artists/DJs get declined. The flag Must Go High,” he wrote.

“Speaking my mind. Arts n Culture please take care of Amapiano Danko,” he added.

Recently Major League DJz also called on the department to assist the genre.

While many were debating American rapper Swae Lee's unverified origin of the amapiano genre, Major League DJz steered the conversation away from other countries to how Mzansi — particularly the government — supports the genre.

“All said and done. We can fight all these guys all we want. But what is South Africa doing for [ama]piano to make sure [it] is taken to the world? What has government done for [ama]piano? This is our best export but what support have we given to the genre to make sure it touches all corners of the world? Let's fight and address the right issues to make sure the genre gets the best support possible,” read the post.
