The Msinga Driftkhana is back with exciting changes and Dladla Mshunqisi plans to keep the crowd on its feet with his enchanting vocals.
The annual, premium motorsport event that's set to take place on September 22 to 24 at Mphelankani in Msinga, KwaZulu-Natal, will include various festivities, including live music performances and DJ sets, in celebration of its 12th anniversary and Heritage Month. This over and above the main attractions — car spinning and drifting.
“I have a new song that I’ll be dropping later this month titled Babekhethiwe. Although we have not finalised the exact date of release, I’ll be performing it for the first time at the Msinga Driftkhana events and you know I always bring energy on stage.
"People should come out in numbers to hear that and old songs. Moreover, they can expect an energetic and unique performance enomshunqo," Dladla Mshunqisi told TshisaLIVE.
Event organisers have confirmed the introduction of show-and-shine exhibitions and have encouraged VW Polo and minibus taxi drivers to showcase their vehicles.
The owners of the most well-looked-after and cleanest Polo and taxi will each receive R3,000 cash, with the runner-up and owners of cars on the final podium each driving away with R2,000 and R1,000 respectively.
Between the show and shine and spinning, patrons can expect performances from traditional dance and music groups. The full list of artists and drivers will be revealed in due course.
“The additions made to this year’s event are based on feedback we receive from attendees. We always welcome feedback and constructive criticism for the betterment of Msinga Driftkhana because we can only grow from it," founder and organiser Smanga Mabaso said.
“We are excited to once again host this prestigious event that brings Msinga and the whole uMzinyathi district to life and creates major job and networking opportunities for locals. We encourage guests to start buying their tickets through Computicket and book their accommodation early to avoid disappointment.”
