In addition to being a social media influencer, dancer and reality TV star, Kamohelo “Kamo WW” Pule has added performing artist to his resume.
After his debut single Abafana in June, the Birth of Stars cast member recently released a single Chommie with Chley.
“What inspired my venture into music is the love I have for entertaining people. It's always been in me. I wanted to do it with my own music. The art of music is so beautiful that I'm able to tell a story in a different way,” he told TshisaLIVE.
For the past two years, Kamo has been practising how to write, going to studio sessions, honing his craft, and finding his sound, which he describes as fun, free and vibrant.
While he might want to dominate the amapiano scene, he plans to dabble in a range of music and is working on a gqom song.
“I wanted to be known from a young age so that when I grow up I can be an icon. I am a very entertaining artist. It's spiritual for me. I make music for people to dance and have a good time.”
As a member of the LGBTQi+ community, Kamo says by living his truth he hopes to inspire the young generation about the importance of self-assuredness.
“I want to be remembered as a fearless person who overstepped boundaries or society standards that try to cage us in boxes. I want to be remembered as the boy who inspired another gay boy to live their life fearlessly because it can get very scary. I want to be a person who paved the way for the next generation to run harder than I did and be remembered for contributing in that space.”
