Musician Toya Delazy has reflected on her eight years abroad by revealing she has since signed with Earth Agency.

Taking to her Instagram timeline recently, the musician penned a lengthy post, explaining that the step felt like it did when she moved to the UK.

“For those who know me, this journey has been an absolute roller-coaster ride. I feel like I started my music career from scratch when I decided to move from South Africa to London with my wife, and one of my wildest dreams was always to travel the world touring, creating shows that are memorable and bringing people together. Being at this point is truly a testament that hard work, dedication and obsessing over your dreams do pay off, eventually. The team has put a lot of love into making the show unforgettable. The pure joy and energy that fills the room when we all come together is beyond words, and I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.

She went on to say everything had led her to the chapter she is entering.

“Being indie, creating my own future, has taught me resilience and determination, and the power of never giving up on your dreams. I am grateful for every challenge and setback, rejection really is protection. The grind only made me stronger and more determined to bring you my best self. Thank you all for your support throughout the years and whatever put you in touch with my music None of this would be possible without each and every one of you. The support and love is felt,” she wrote.

When she started her journey a couple of years ago in the UK, she explained, her sound (afro-rave) was the direction she wanted to take.

Toya told TshisaLIVE the sound was born from mixing the garage underground sound from the streets of London with Zulu lyrics.

“We tailored the sound, which reflects some of my heritage and also where I am at the moment. It feels like a little print of the space I am in right now.”
