Scriptwriter and actor Chris Q Radebe says Gomora was the best show he has worked on.
He reflected on the show on which the curtain came down on October 20.
Taking to his Instagram timeline he said though there might be better shows, there'll never be another Gomora.
“Anyone who knows me well will tell you I don’t write a show that I’m not a fan of. I have to be obsessed with a show to work on it, and obsessed I was with Gomora. The plot, the characters, I lived for it. Phathu and Gwyd have written a gazillion brilliant shows. But the work they put in, setting up this masterpiece? Personally, some of their best work to date.
“Kutlwano’s passion whenever he spoke of the concept is impossible to forget. You just knew it was going to be something special. And special, it was. The creative geniuses that are Thabang and Zeno, who would have set up the look and feel of the show, the unmatched editing by Jeremy Briers (an editor who clearly reads the script), the music that accompanied the incredible scenes.” he wrote in a lengthy post.
Mzansi Magic announced in April that Gomora was filming its last season.
“Gomora has always been a show that transcended the screen. These characters and stories will live in the hearts and homes of many people for years to come. A truly memorable show which we will look back on with a sense of fulfilment, knowing we brought light to these important stories,” said Leanne Khumalo, executive producer.
“Gomora has been an incredible journey, paved with many milestones and memories. When we started this show, we were on the brink of lockdown. The crew and cast formed a special bond during this time. Gomora grew into a family and this power dynamic was shared and experienced on screen.”
