In addition to being a podcaster and reality TV star, Tumi 'Gogo Skhotheni' Motsoeneng has added DJing to her growing resume.
Ahead of her first gig in Mpumalanga, the popular sangoma said she was “nervous but also very excited” about pursuing a career in the music industry.
“I've been preparing for a year, it's just that I have been private about it. Now I'm ready to do it. I've been different in everything that I do and this will also be different. I was born to stand out,” she told TshisaLIVE.
While there have been naysayers questioning her venture into DJing, Gogo Skhotheni said people would be surprised by what she has to offer.
“With my journey in the entertainment industry, I think people knew me as Gogo Skhotheni and didn't know the dreams that I had before I became a sangoma. It's just that my sangoma part was the one that introduced me to the world.
“Now that I am doing what Tumi wants, people are surprised by that and I see all the negative comments, and I'm not surprised because I prepared myself for it.”
She's set to juggle her businesses, The Venting podcast as well as the demands of the music industry, but says this won't make her deviate from her spiritual calling.
“ubungoma is not a curse and not a career but a gift. I'm not going to step away from ubungoma, I'll forever be a sangoma. With the help of my team, we will be able to work around my career and ubungoma. With other businesses, my husband is there.”
