Miss Mpumalanga First Princess Angel Banda has landed sponsorship from a sanitary pads brand.

The Carolina-born beauty contestant studied chemical engineering, has modelled and is an aspirant entrepreneur. She has twice entered the Miss Mpumalanga contest and took the position of First Princess in the 2024 competition. She said this has created a bedrock for her journey as a model.

“Before this journey I have been focusing on my studies and part-time learning in hospitality, restaurants and event organising . This has sparked my passion for entrepreneurship and has given me an opportunity to see the huge disparity between women and men in the business space, hence my advocacy for women entrepreneurship,” she told TshisaLIVE.

The 24-year-old told TshisaLIVE that after the competition in March this year she was fortunate to be selected by Seasoned Agency, whose main objective is to grow and hone upcoming talent to be a brand representative.

“This has opened a multitude of possibilities for me and I’m thankful for this opportunity. It is through Seasoned Agency that I have been selected to be brand ambassador for Omoda South Africa and Dignity Sanitary Pads.”

Angel said a scarcity of resources   makes it difficult for girls in rural areas and townships to afford sanitary pads.

“It is my advocacy that sanitary pads should be attached to the children's grant and be made available either affordably or gratuitously to all girls and women.”
