Bjorn Vido is on a mission to drive social change through his music.
The musician and climate activist hailing from Denmark has been working on an album that blends genres ranging from afrobeat to amapiano. He features local hit makers Boohle, iFani, Touchline and Kaygee Daking & Bizizi.
“Africa has a unique tone. Featuring South African artists has had a positive impact on my music,” Bjorn told TshisaLIVE.
“I just fell in love with the whole project. I love this initiative. I love that we're spreading a message that is more positive to people. We're making a change in the world. I always loved being a part of something bigger,” Boohle added.
Bjorn said he's looking to collaborate with more South African stars including Dali Wonga, Focalist and Cassper Nyovest.
As a musician, Bjorn's virtuosity knows no bounds which has got him a number of accolades including recognition from the Oscars.
“My music isn't just a symphony for the ears, it's a powerful vehicle for raising awareness about pressing global issues, particularly climate change. With each composition, I weave a narrative that speaks to the soul and compels action,” he said.
Bjorn is popularly known for his unconventional and innovative approach when it comes to fusing his music with his activism.
From walking on an active volcano to hosting a concert at the South Pole for the penguins and another in space via satellites and weather balloons.
“We have now been travelling the world in our fourth year, with our show using music, visuals, art, talks and interviews — bringing a new perspective to the climate debate. A big part of the concept is the lyrics in the songs. Almost all have a double meaning. So when we sing 'She´s on fire' it can mean super hot girl or the planet got a problem.”
