Unathi Nkayi will take centre stage as the host of the upcoming Basadi in Music Awards (BIMA) after receiving praise for her hosting skills at last year's ceremony.

The media personality plans to put her best foot forward at the highly anticipated third annual awards ceremony on August 10.

“There's magic that happens when you surround yourself with women chasing their dreams and breaking down barriers. Being a part of Basadi in Music Awards last year was truly special, and to be invited back as host fills me with an even deeper sense of joy. It is a chance to celebrate the journeys of these incredible artists who inspire me daily,” she said.

“This year, we'll be reflecting on our own journeys, and embracing the strength we find in each other. It will be a night filled with the magic of music, the power of sisterhood and a celebration that will leave us all shimmering long after the curtain falls.”

The awards evening, themed “Girl in the Mirror: Our Re.flexion”, is expected to be a dazzling affair for the celebration of Women's Month.

Basadi in Music Awards CEO Hloni Modise Matau shared her excitement.

“We are thrilled to have Unathi back as our host and eagerly anticipate another stellar performance. The road to #Basadiinmusic2024 continues and we look forward to celebrating the exceptional talent and achievements of South African women in music. Join us for a night of stunning performances, empowering recognition and unforgettable entertainment. Don't forget the theme, 'Girl in the Mirror — Our Re.flexion' — we want to see you shine,” she said.
