Convicted kwaito star Brickz is at loggerheads with his 16-year-old son for choosing DJing over his school studies.
It's alleged the Sweet My Baby hit maker is fighting with his son Gugulethu Cleopas Ndlovu, known as Google Da DJ. A reliable source close to the pair suggested Brickz feels fame will distract his son from his studies.
“The boy is doing well as a DJ and is continuously winning competition challenges on Jozi FM, and people are booking him and demanding a release of his single but his father wants him to put his head towards his books,” said the source.
“This situation has created a family feud as some family members feel the boy must continue with music rather than focusing on his studies because they're seeing the results that he is doing great with his DJing.”
Cleopas's grandmother Adelaide Mabaso confirmed to TshisaLIVE that she also feels he must focus on his studies but not shy away from his talent as a DJ.
“I'm aware of his disagreement with his father regarding him DJing over his studies. At least he is getting free advice from somebody who's been in the music industry. His father knows what he is talking about,” she said.
“It's often that we as parents get into disagreements with our children but most of the time it's about education over fun times. I mean he can continue with his DJing after completing his matric, it's not like we are saying he must abandon his talent altogether.”
