Rapper and media personality Robot Boii has broken his silence about Mr JazziQ's alleged sexual harassment incident.
In late May, YFM freelance content producer Ngcebo Mcobothi accused Tumelo “JazziQ” Manyoni of sexually harassing her by grabbing her waist and forcefully trying to kiss her in a lift at the station's offices moments before his interview on May 23.
Robot Boii, who was present in the lift, claimed Ngcebo had made up the story because all he witnessed was JazziQ saying how warm she looked as she was wearing a blanket-like dress.
“The saddest thing is when victims come out, it's going to be harder for them to be believed ,” he said during a recent episode of Popcorn & Cheese.
“The law is the law. A case has been opened. The truth is in the statement. We are waiting because we are doing things the right way. The same way it should have happened from her side, where she should have opened a case.”
JazziQ's management released a statement in response to the allegations made by Ngcebo.
“Mr JazziQ is many things — a young man who, like all young men his age, parties and gets involved in romantic relationships with women. What he is not is a perpetrator of violence of any form against women. It is not an accident of history that he has never been accused of sexual misconduct. It is a clear reflection of his belief in the importance of consent, which he understands has to be voluntary and, importantly, can be withdrawn at any point,” it said.
A source revealed to TshisaLIVE that Mr JazziQ is prepared to undergo a lie detector test to prove his innocence.
“All Mr JazziQ and team want is for her to prove he tried to kiss her and sexually assault her by taking a lie detector test, as there are no cameras in the YFM lifts and Mr JazziQ is determined to prove his innocence,” said the source.
He has shared footage of him, Robot Boii, PR specialist Lwazi Zondo and Ngcebo before entering the lift with his videographer, one of whom took a lie detector test seen by TshisaLIVE.
In the test, they were asked questions including: “Did you see Tumelo touching Ngcebo in an inappropriate way in the lift on May 23 2024?"; “Did you see Tumelo trying to kiss Ngcebo in the lift on May 23 2024?”, and; “Are you lying about anything regarding the incident?”.
