While most siblings are usually at loggerheads, talented brother and sister Akani “Boboza” Khosa and Kululeko “Toto” Vilakazi are a dynamic music duo who complement each other.
Boboza & Toto have just released an amazing seven-track album with the lead single Insane which is fast making waves on social media.
Destined for greatness, the duo has grown in this African house/amapiano music scene. The music video for Insane features stars like actors Wiseman Mncube, Thabisile Zikhali and African child dancers. The song is taken from their album Celebration.
“We know we have a long way to go but the support from our parents has kept us grounded and working hard to achieve our goals,” Toto told TshisaLIVE.
“We have proper planning and time management plan that we have created to balance the two. During the week we focus entirely on school work then only go to the studio on weekends. Most bookings are usually during school holidays. We prioritise schoolwork first.”
It was their parents who spotted their potential. They supported them and encouraged them to do performances at school which has been the culmination of their current growth and opening success.
Boboza & Toto first started making music at a young age. After asking their parents for a home studio, the self-taught artists started making music in their bedroom studio, exploring different sounds. Their parents embraced their passion and supported them. Music runs in their blood.
The duo has been inspired by award-winning Xitsonga music giant Benny Mayengane.
“He has been an inspiration and helped guide us when we record our music.”
