Music producer DrumPope is attempting to set a Guinness World record.
The award-winning producer and composer said his application for “Most Digital Single Releases by a Music Act in a Year” has been accepted by the Guinness World Record body.
He wants to record and release at least 1,000 songs in a year and is aiming for 1,100 releases. So far, he has reached 30% of this goal.
Speaking to TshisaLIVE, DrumPope, aka Frans Phetole Lebepe, said his brand came into being in early 2009 when a friend shared production software with him and taught him to use it.
“It gave me all the tools I needed. I put dedication into learning music production and that’s how the music spark/passion started.
“After contributing for some years in the South African music industry, being inspired by DJ Sbu, who set a Guinness World Record in 2020 for the longest radio broadcast, and DJ PH and Shimza, who played a world first, 72-hour DJ set, I felt the need to raise the bar to unprecedented heights.”
DrumPope has been mentored by music industry giants such as DJ Sbu, Oskido and Zonke. He has collaborated with the likes of Oskido, Lady Zamar and Mafikizolo, solidifying his influence in the music industry.
