BET Award winner Makhadzi was hosted for her homecoming at a breakfast at Meropa Casino in Limpopo on Thursday.

Makhadzi, real name Ndivhudzannyi Ralivhona, touched down at OR Tambo International Airport last week after attending the BET Awards ceremony in the US, where she walked away with the award for Best New International Act.

On Thursday, the 26-year-old was hosted in Polokwane, where residents gathered to get a glimpse of her award, before parading through town.

Speaking to TshisaLIVE, Makhadzi's manager Maphuti Perez said: “Today was very special, this award means hope for the people of Limpopo province, a province that is overlooked.

“We went to the streets and the joy on the supporters' faces was priceless. We really appreciate the support and the love is just too beautiful.”

Mpho Mashabela from the Limpopo Artists' Movement said: “We are so grateful as an organisation that Makhadzi proved that Limpopo can do it.”
