Born Into Fame stars Arthur Junior Mafokate and sister Owami are making attempts to lure their father Arthur Mafokate back into the recording studio.

Speaking to TshisaLIVE, DJ AJ said while he and his sister were working on their first project together, the La Familia EP, they were hoping to collaborate with the kwaito legend.

“We are trying to work with our father Arthur as La Familia is a family project and since my sister and I have found our sound, we think we are ready to bring him into our sound. He has been away from the industry as an artist for a while but we’re hoping this new EP will motivate him to join us on the next project,” AJ told TshisaLIVE.

The body of work fuses 3-step, sounds of Afrohouse and amapiano. Award-winning musician Mthunzi, Idols SA season 9 contestant Sonke and Rock C are confirmed features for the EP so far.

AJ said business has always been their family’s focus and has helped them manoeuvre the industry with ease.

“When we’re not in the studio we’re in the office. We’ve also just shot a Showmax Original reality show called Born into Fame which features multiple child stars born from famous parents,” he said.

“We are able to learn the business first-hand. We’ve also been able to figure out what works best for our skills and talents. The challenges we’ve faced is the public assumption that we’re trying to be like our parents where as we are simply following our passions,” Owami added.
