Dee Koala's ex-boyfriend Yonke Gugushe has broken his silence his past relationship with the Khayelitsha-born rapper.
Two weeks after their split, Yonke, who is a 28-year-old financial advisor, exclusively told TshisaLIVE that since meeting the Gwan hitmaker in Cape Townn mid-October last year, he suffered emotional abuse in their relationship.
"The abuse I felt started very lightly as I noticed she always wanted to speak over me or not let me have an opinion, or want to speak last because she wasn't used to being told that she's wrong because those around her, especially her team, always agree with her and hardly say 'no' to her. I would see this in how she treats and speaks to them from time to time," he claimed.
"I'd reference that when she shouted at me that I'm not one of her team members or friends. Everything I did had to revolve around her and her image — how I look and what I [do] in public."
Yonke said a week after meeting Dee Koala, real name Odwa Situma, she posted their pictures on her TikTok and Instagram pages to make things official, and weeks later they moved into his apartment in Milnerton, Cape Town.
It was a rollercoaster relationship, said Yonke, claiming Dee Koala cheated on him with a DJ from Durban.

Yonke said even though he tried to end their relationship, Dee Koala was insistent they get together.
"I tolerated so many lies and manipulations from her narcissistic traits and her being a serial cheater.
"The biggest thing she did to manipulate me into staying in the mess was that if I broke up with her, she would take her own life. I stayed again because I was scared of being the reason she would be gone.
"She is not OK, as I said to her, and she needs help. I felt sympathy for her [and] wanted to be there for her."
He recently took to his Instagram stories to share WhatsApp conversations between himself and the rapper where they discussed their relationship woes. Since their breakup, they have blocked each other on all platforms.
Dee Koala has remained mum since Yonke shared shocking claims about their relationship. When TshisaLIVE reached out to Dee Koala, her manager Leo Lobelo said the rapper did not want to comment on the matter.
