Former Afternoon Express presenter Thabiso Makhubela has fallen on hard times.
News of Makhubela finding himself in a pool full of problems went viral on social media, with a post that said after he was fired from the weekday show he was allegedly detained in prison.
“Wonder what happened to the talented TV and radio personality Thabiso Makhubela from Afternoon Express? He has been behind bars at Johannesburg correctional services,” read the post.
It is alleged Makhubela was given the boot from the show last year for misconduct, and spent weeks at a Johannesburg correctional services facility after he was nabbed for theft.
Media liaison spokesperson for the department of correctional services Singabakho Nxumalo confirmed the news: “The department of correctional services can confirm Thabiso Makhubela was admitted at a Johannesburg correctional facility on April 4 2024, for charges relating to theft. He was granted bail by the court which he paid and he was released on April 16.”
Expresso content producer Lucian Albertyn said: “He wasn't fired. He left of his own accord.”
