DJ Tira's wife Gugu Khathi is to honour women thriving in various industries using content creation as a tool to grow their brands.

Gugu told TshisaLIVE her Women of Influence event is an empowerment platform that has mentored young women since its establishment in 2007 and slowly grew through consistency and gained exposure through social media.

The Victorian themed event on Women's Day, August 9, in Johannesburg, will see renowned celebrities and their followers donning their prettiest high tea hats, gloves and dresses.

“This is a great milestone and when we started we didn't know we would reach five years but here we are growing stronger. Women empowerment started as a pandemic for me. I've always travelled the world and saw how independent and strong women are outside South Africa. It pained me to come to my country to see women exist without a purpose and I took it upon myself to unlock that potential and open women to possibilities,” she said.

“This event is not about to stop with social media and AI tools. We've been able to reach women far and wide [and] with limited seats each year, women inquire and each year we notice a drastic change of women doing amazing things. So with the appetite to inspire we will keep going.”
