Promoter Eric Thoka is an angry man after King Monada didn't pitch at his All White picnic at Baroka Village in Lebowakgomo, Limpopo.

Thoka expressed disappointment at the Lemenemene hitmaker's conduct.

“We had an event on January 1. He didn't come and we requested him to refund us. He asked us if we'd have another event so he can come and rectify the mistake. We were dealing with him and his manager. It was [one] arrangement after another, to a point where they started not picking up our calls, so for us to communicate with him we'd use different numbers.

“We resorted to seeking legal advice as we were getting nowhere with his antics. We'd see him at other events and he had his own events. We didn't understand why he wasn't giving us back our money. He was disrespecting us. I think he thought we were small boys and we can't do anything about it. We left everything with our lawyers.

“We are from Limpopo and he is from Limpopo, we are young and we were expecting more from him.”

Thoka said they understand sometimes artists don't make it to events, “but they still have to refund money for services not rendered. We just want our money back and want the legal process to go ahead so we can get our money.

“We recently discovered we aren't the only ones he owes, so he needs to bring himself towards himself and start taking people seriously.”

Efforts to reach King Monada for comment. were unsuccessful.

King Monada and Limpopo Legends Awards organiser Mphoza Mashabela are to appear in the Ritavi magistrate’s court in Nkowankowa, Tzaneen, on September 2.

Mashabele told TshisaLIVE he doesn't want to disclose much information.

“This is a straightforward matter because I paid him and [he] never pitched. I then gave him a second chance and [he] still didn't pitch, so he left me with no choice but to go to court and demand my money from him,” he said.

“What this guy did to me broke my heart as my reputation as an organiser was tainted by his unprofessionalism.

“He isn't my enemy, I just want my money back. I can no longer chase him because I need to clear my name of the madness he created by not pitching at the ceremony. That's not how we do business and I have fans who attend my events, including the Limpopo Legends Awards.

“I'm happy the court date is here. I'll meet him in court.”
