Royalty Soapie Award winner Mahlatse Moropo was hosted for his homecoming at a breakfast at Matora office complex in Seshego, Polokwane, in Limpopo.
The actor stars on SABC 1's Skeem Saam as Charles Kunutu's son Letetswe and walked away with the Viewer's Choice best actor award at the 7th Annual Royalty Soapie Awards at the Heartfelt Arena in Pretoria.
The homecoming was organised by Mahuma Group and the Limpopo arts and culture department. Speaking to TshisaLIVE, Moropo thanked the province of Limpopo for welcoming him home.
“I would like to start by thanking Mr Matome Rapetsoa for the support and for planning my homecoming, he is doing the best as a mentor. I would also like to thank the MEC of sport, arts and culture for being with me this morning. What an amazing day I had and thank you to the entire province of Limpopo for voting. The award has come home”, he said.
Darren van Rensburg of Mahuma Group and its divisions said: “Mahuma Group, Get Down Productions and Matome Rapetsoa Foundation decided to celebrate this wonderful achievement of Mahlatse Moropo, AKA Letetswe on Skeem Saam. Mahlatse started with PRIDA (Paul Rapetsoa's Institution of Dramatic Arts) at the age of 10 under the leadership of the late Mahuma Paul Rapetsoa (Rakgolo Josias on Skeem Saam). He has since been mentored by Matome Rapetsoa (Founder of Mahuma Group and Get Down Productions) and is doing amazingly on screen. We will continue supporting him and appreciating him. He is one of a kind and the Royalty Soapie Award is just the beginning — we're heading for the Oscar now.”
