Guests braced the cold weather to attend a mothers and daughters pyjama party at Biblos Lounge in Katlehong, Ekurhuleni, hosted by TV personalities Enhle Mbali and Bongi Mlotshwa.

The scene resembled that of one in the Playboy mansion with women from all walks of life dressed in their sleepwear. DJ Khosi played songs by Mary J Blige, Bruno Mars, Sjava, Joyce Sims and many others which kept the guests entertained until midnight

Bongi Mlotshwa, Enhle's mother, told TshisaLIVE the idea of a pyjama party was birthed by a conversations they had on their podcast. As single mothers they realised there was a need in their communities for mothers and daughters to chat about their experiences. They received many Instagram messages from mothers and sometimes daughters seeking guidance. The pyjama nights are about creating a safe space for women to come together not just to chat, cry and vent but to also dance and enjoy each other’s company.

“We both have experienced so much kindness and love from the women around us. Our mothers and grandmothers both played such a huge role in our lives. Enhle has always been the kind of daughter who pushed me out of my own knowledge and understanding of what a mom does. Our daughters have voices and their own stories. At first it can seem intimidating but as mothers if we are truly open to understand our role in their lives we have to be open to accepting that times are changing,” she said.

Actress Enhle said the programme for the party was designed to be inspirational. and to let women know they were in a safe space and could open up and share intimate details of their upbringing and journeys as mothers and partners.

“We believe when one woman shows up for herself, she shows up for others. In so doing our guests will open up and walk away empowered as well. We had great friends such as Zikhona, Enhle, Black Diamond, Thandy Matlaila, Gabisile Tshabalala and many others turn up in support of this initiative. Their insights alone are so valuable and often the mirror women need to see themselves and how powerful they are. We had an amazing dancing session where we experienced the ladies take to the floor and show us how they get down and groove South African style. What is a party with no fun and music? This was such a great experience for them as well,” she said.

Former Mzansi Magic Our Perfect Wedding presenter Nomsa Buthelezi took to the podium to reflect on the trials and tribulations she witnessed fellow actress Tumi Masemola go through, She described Tumi as a "'none pretender of the industry”. “The fighting is over, people should sit tight and get popcorn and watch you unfold to your glory again. You were not a pretender of the industry. I'm still saying, and you said enough is enough and took a decision for living in peace,” said Buthelezi.
