Ukhozi FM is set to pull presenter Siya Mhlongo from the air.
Mhlongo allegedly assaulted his boyfriend at the weekend with a beer bottle.
Sources said SABC management decided to temporarily remove Mhlongo from the line-up pending investigations.
“The national broadcaster doesn't like to associate itself with police investigations, especially those that have to do with assault. If he wasn't pulled from the air it would seem as if the station is condoning the actions of one of their own who is on the wrong side of the law,” said the source.
Another source said: “It was evident the SABC was going to take action against Siya. They don't condone GBV and other criminal activities from its employees. He is as good as gone.”

Ukhozi FM presenter in hot water for allegedly assaulting his partner
TshisaLIVE contacted SABC media relations manager Mmoni Seapolelo for comment.
“Ukhozi FM management confirm Mhlongo has requested time off from work to deal with a personal matter,” she said.
“During this period Zama Mseleku will stand in for him. Management is also aware of the alleged video and would like to be given an opportunity to address the matter internally in line with SABC processes. If the matter is reported to law enforcement authorities, management will also respect this process.”
Efforts to obtain comment from Siya failed.
