GS Funeral Parlour will no longer provide funeral services for late kwaito star Mapaputsi, who died on September 5 after being ill for more than a year.

On Wednesday the funeral parlour expressed respect for the Ngwenya family when revealing they were no longer going to be involved.

“GS Funeral Parlour announces it will no longer facilitate the funeral service of kwaito legend Mapaputsi after the family's decision to appoint us as their service provider. We are committed to ensuring a smooth transition after the preparations we made and we will co-ordinate with the affiliated service provider to maintain the dignity of the deceased and the grieving family.”

Speaking to TshisaLIVE, Mapaputsi's daughter Precious confirmed arrangements for the funeral and memorial service are in order. She said the reason for the sudden change was her father had a funeral policy, which was discovered late.

“He had funeral cover. We found out about it late. We thought he didn't have funeral cover. We wanted to do it as a family but all is well and we managed to sort out things quickly,” she said.

“When we discovered he had funeral cover we thought to go with it because that's how he planned things, that's what's best for him. All is well.”
