Excitement is mounting as the top 10 contestants from uShuni Womhlaba, South Africa's premier singing competition, prepare to take the stage at the highly anticipated Umbuso Wamaciko Maskandi Festival in Durban on Saturday.

The live performance will take place at the Durban Workshop, where these rising stars will showcase their talent from 7pm to 8pm.

The event offers an opportunity for the public to witness first-hand the incredible talent emerging from uShuni Womhlaba.

As the competition intensifies and draws closer to the finale, South Africans are beginning to see the depth and diversity of musical prowess the country possesses. From maskandi to mbaqanga, isicathamiya to Afro-pop, the top 10 contestants will deliver performances that reflect the rich and vibrant cultural tapestry of South African music.

The Umbuso Wamaciko Maskandi Festival is more than just a music event, it’s a celebration of South African heritage and culture, making it the perfect platform for the top 10 to demonstrate why they are in the running to become the next big name in the SA music scene.

Two months ago, Mpumi Mlambo said to TshisaLIVE: “uShuni Womhlaba is a music competition, it's reality TV, it's going to have judges and contestants. SABC1 together with Telkom are going to host auditions across the country to find South African talent in the traditional music genre, Afro-pop and maskandi.

“I am honoured and happy to be part of uShuni Womhlaba. Our country has many unknown, talented stars who need to shine on a national platform. I urge all South Africans to watch and participate in the show.”
