Nandi Nyembe has been in the entertainment industry for decades and says her South African Film & Television Awards (Safta) nomination is only another nod.
The actress has been nominated in the Best Supporting Actress in a TV Drama category at the 18th Saftas for her role on Showmax's Adulting.
In 2017, Nandi was nominated in the same category for her role on Ashes to Ashes. Despite this, she said she does not care for award ceremonies.
Nandi told TshisaLIVE awards nominations are not her focus, but rather the quality of her work: “ Nothing excites me [about awards] because where were they all these years?”
Nandi is popularly known for her roles on Soul City, Yizo Yizo, Zone 14, Isibaya, Isthembiso, The Queen, Isono, and The River S6 since her first stint on the scene in 1971.
“I've done a lot in the industry. I'm fine. I don't want to be remembered. I'm OK.”
“I do feel appreciated in the industry because there are a lot of production companies I work with, and I feel appreciated by them. My awards are the people I meet who talk about the work I have done and they appreciate what I do on screen. Those are my awards.”
