Uzalo actor Simphiwe Majozi wants to set the record straight about his position in the entertainment industry.

Majozi is scheduled to host the South Africa's Best Comedy Experience' at The Playhouse Opera Theatre in Durban on November 15, with Gagasi FM's Felix Hlophe, Skhumba Hlophe, Simphiwe Shembe, Isaac Gampu and Nonto R.

“I'm not a comedian. I am a professional actor who can portray any given character, so it happens that the character I'm known for is the one I'm playing in Uzalo as Sbu. I have a comic element in me which often confuses people that I might be a comedian,” he said.

Speaking to TshisaLIVE, Majozi said he is an actor who can portray humorous characters and that confuses people, as maybe next year they'll see him acting as a villain.

“It's like Jamie Foxx. If you watch other movies he did there's no funny moment, he is a professional actor and I'm like that, that's where I draw my inspiration from. Even in South Africa I look up to the late Joe Mafela as there are shows without his comic element.”

During the comedy show he will be on stage as a host, not a comedian.

“I took a decision that let me bring comedy to people and gather my friends who are good in comedy, so this is me answering my fans' questions if I'm a comedian or not.”

Majozi told TshisaLIVE this comedy show will be hosted nationwide.

“We are going to Cape Town and the Pretoria State Theatre; there's going to be much travelling. I'm going back to my first love which is theatre. It's been years since I last did theatre.”
