One of uShuni Womhlaba's Top 3 contestants stands to win R500,000 on the show's grand finale which will be aired on SABC 1 at 6pm on Sunday.
The journey to the grand finale has been filled with passion, perseverance and a celebration of diverse musical influences that define the uShuni Womhlaba competition.
The grand finale will take place at the SABC's Johannesburg studios. The remaining contestants will bring their best to the stage one last time as they compete for the title of South Africa’s first-ever uShuni Womhlaba star.
The Top 3 contestants are Mthobisi Gudazi (aka Gudaazi), Lindokuhle Mthimunye (Lindo Jay Music), and Thandikhaya Magayiyana (Joliza Bhacasoul).
TshisaLIVE caught up with them for a chat. Mthobisi Gudazi, 26, from eManzimtoti said he thanks God for having made it this far in the competition, “I've brought a soulful touch to the competition, fusing traditional elements with modern musical influences. I have consistently wowed the judges and audience alike, showing my versatility across genres. My musical journey reflects a deep commitment to storytelling through song, inspired by my upbringing in a music-loving family,” he said.
Thandikhaya Magayiyana (Joliza Bhacasoul) from Gqeberha, Eastern Cape, emerged as a true embodiment of cultural pride and musical innovation. “With my sound that resonates deeply with South African music traditions, I blend Bhaca rhythms with contemporary elements, creating a distinctive voice that stands out in the competition. My performances have been characterised by emotional depth and technical skill, winning the hearts of fans across the nation.”
Lindokuhle Mthimunye (Lindo Jay Music), a vibrant and dynamic performer from Emalahleni, Mpumalanga, has made a name for himself with his unique Afro-fusion style that blends Afro-pop, Maskandi, and modern beats. “My energetic stage presence and deep connection to my roots have set me apart as a front-runner. My talent was evident from the beginning, and I've continued to push creative boundaries with each performance, connecting with audiences on a personal level. At the end, I'd like to work with these guys I'm with in the Top 3 and create great music,” he said.
