Deep house DJ Funk DeepStar is hoping to attract a large crowd of music lovers to his Let's Play House Sessions event.
Some of the country's top house music DJs such as Miggs Foreal, Zulu Mafia, Malankane, DJ Handful and Mush will feature at the event, which will be held at Fountain Valley in Pretoria on Saturday.
DJ Funk DeepStar, real name Machela Motumo, is popularly known for his Soul Candi compilations and has been part of the music scene since 2003.
Speaking to TshisaLIVE, the DJ said he was excited about welcoming music lovers to his event, “It's been a great year for me as far as getting new house music tunes is concerned — more especially the unreleased international tunes which I'll be playing at the event. We don't compromise we'll be playing strictly deep house music and nothing else,” he said.
DJ Miggs Foreal said: “Deep house music will never die. Attempts have been made to make the genre vanish from the local music industry, so at this event we'll be displaying how powerful the genre is and will always be.”
In July, Funk DeepStar branched out into the sound equipment hiring business. “In this journey I encountered venues that had the best sound system in the game and some that had some of the worst sound systems a DJ would ever want to see.
“I invested in buying a proper sound system and other apparatus to earn extra cash. We have two branches, one in Gauteng and one in Limpopo. We provide sound hire services to all who require our professional services.”
