Mongezi “Tol A$$ Mo” Mahlangu and Mome recently marked their 12th wedding anniversary, reflecting on their journey and the lessons learned along the way.
In late July 2023, Tol A$$ Mo revealed during an interview on WAW: What A Week that he and Mome were headed for divorce after 11 years of marriage. He changed his tune in December when rekindling their relationship.
On Sunday, Mome took to her timeline to pen a heartfelt message to her husband.
“Our love story is my favourite on and off screen. Looking back at our first plans, the achievements, the losses, the life lessons, the painful lessons, they are all a big part of our growth,” she wrote.
“After honeymoon stages, the building stage, the character understanding and the family stage, healing the little girl and boy in our marriage, learning to let go of our childhood trauma, showing up for our tribe every day, through all the different stages we have learned this. Marriage means facing many seasons of life together. Some are going to bring a plot twist, some will be overly stressful and depressing, some will test your character. Your love, your emotional intelligence, your loyalty, your integrity test your ability to remain still when in pain and keeping your faith.”
Morning devotions and daily prayers are some of the ways they have built mental and emotional peace in their relationship through the challenges they faced together, Mome said.
“Tol A$$ Mo you may have ridiculed yourself during your breakdown crisis but I'm happy you saved your life, 'manned-up' to heal properly and healing together has been educational, aligning, compassionate, spiritually fulfilling, restoring our lives and mostly living in our happiness, seeing us wake up and putting the broken pieces together.”
