The DJ Sumbody Foundation is set to launch a posthumous single, Somebody Nice, to honour the late star's influence in the music industry.
Oupa John Sefoka, popularly known as DJ Sumbody, was shot dead in Johannesburg in November 2022.
Somebody Nice, which was produced by Junior Taurus and features Murumba Pitch, is said to be an infectious, feel-good anthem that embodies DJ Sumbody's signature sound.
“There was no inspiration behind this beat. Sumbody heard this particular beat in one of our sessions and he liked it. He had a talent for A&Ring, hearing an instrumental for the first time and immediately knowing which artist would fit. He took a beat I had no faith in and heard magic,” Junior Taurus said.
The single will be launched at an exclusive Black Tie event on November 21 where industry leaders, artists and philanthropists will honour his life as his foundation is unveiled.
“Oupa 'DJ Sumbody' Sefoka was a beloved son, brother, uncle and icon. His passion and love for music brought joy to our family. Seeing him thrive in the industry was a testament to the power of prayer, passion and dedication. He left a deep, painful gap in our lives and we will forever honour him through his work,” the family said.
