Gqom group DCB are ready to make their mark in the music scene.
The Pinetown-based group made up of six members: Menzi Mngadi “ICK” Umbhali, Nkululeko “Raggo” Myeza, Sbonelo “Nduku” Dlamini, Bongumusa “Graystone” Majola, Sizwe “Slay J” Shabane and Kgotsofalang “Kaaygee” Machili, born and raised in St Wendolins (Kwasanti) just outside Pinetown.
DCB released Amashots (Ayangjulukisa) a few years ago, which became popular.
Speaking to TshisaLIVE, Raggo said the group started as solo rappers in early 2013 with influence from Abdus, Zakwe and Ngqondo. “We later revolved into dance music (Gqom, Afrotec, piano and house), The group has worked with Joocy (Afrotainment), Brave Beats and Musiholiq,” he said.
Slay J said: “We recently released our debut commercial EP under Ncence Records. Our group has strived to release timeless music that touches souls”.
On this debut EP the group is pushing the song Sisokola featuring Joocy (Afrotainment). The song is inspired by situations the group grew up in. It is a song of hope and belief that one day the situation and their living conditions will change for the better.
