In a night celebrating LGBTQI+ excellence, Hope Ramafalo shone bright, winning the coveted Social Media Personality of the Year award at the 16th Feather Awards.
“It feels surreal at this point. Social media is my workplace. I'm growing financially solely from monetising my social platforms. To be socially recognised too. It really is surreal what the era of digitisation has done,” she told TshisaLIVE.
“I think my social media presence and consistency could be the reason behind my win. I put in effort in all content I put out and I’m certain it shows.”
Hope, a talented dancer, presenter and musician, said her passion for dance sparked her creative journey, which organically expanded into presenting and music.
“Dance will always be my favourite talent. Though I equally respect all other disciplines, dance remains my ultimate passion because of its spiritual nature. I expanded into other creative fields organically. Almost like it was written in my destiny. It was a seamless transitory growth path.”
As an openly gay individual, she emphasised the importance of representation and visibility for the LGBTQI+ community.
“It’s highly important for the alphabet community to be visible. I use my platforms by openly loving whoever I wish. Inclusivity and acceptance are great building blocks for all communities and countries.”
She said she has lots in the pipeline that will keep her followers dancing this summer.
“I am about to drop songs in the next few weeks called Modimo Ke Star and Areyeng.”
