South Africa's celebrated Afro-pop duo Malini has made it to Ukhozi FM's Song of the Year Top 10 finalists after two decades in the industry.
Toffo Goge and Mdu Ntombela formed the group in 2004 and their musical partnership started as backing vocalists for gospel singer Rebecca Malope.
Their breakthrough came with the song Us'bali, featuring Ihhash'elimhlophe, which won them the South African Traditional Music Achievement Award in 2010 for Best Afro-pop group.
Malini is overjoyed after being announced as the finalist in the Ukhozi FM Song of the Year final list after 20 years in the music industry with their smash hit song Uthunyelwe Abadala from their latest EP. Ukhozi FM is the country's biggest radio station.
“This is a moment to be proud and excited about; we have been in the industry for 20 years, and to receive such an honour in the year where we are celebrating such a milestone is indeed a mega achievement and a blessing, and we have even bigger and better plans for what is to come”, said Malini.
