Actor and producer Mandla N has confirmed production of his hit Netflix series Mabaso Family Reunion will resume soon.
The show, which has already topped Netflix's charts, is set to continue its success with a new season. It will be produced by his production company Black Brain Pictures.
Mandla told TshisaLIVE the team is in the writing phase, with exciting plans for the next season.
“We will definitely continue [the production], the people love it,” he said.
“Our writers are hard at work, focusing on the creative direction and ensuring we deliver something people will love.”
The new season is expected to start filming next year. Mandla said the team is still debating whether to name it the Mabaso Baby Shower or Mabaso Reunion.
“We will start shooting possibly [at the] end of the first half of next year and we are excited.”
Mabaso Family Reunion has quickly become a fan favourite, recently claiming the top spot on Netflix’s most-watched chart. “The numbers don't lie, we just enjoyed it being No 1 for three weeks and still going strong in the top 10.”
He also confirmed the original cast would return, with a few new faces joining the line-up.
“We might have one or two interesting people we will bring in. It's exciting times.”
The series, which premiered on Netflix last month, has already taken South Africans by storm, gaining widespread acclaim for its engaging storyline and dynamic performances.
