Rapper Shebeshxt has defended himself against critics amid a drunk driving controversy.

He came under fire when videos of him driving with alcohol in his car surfaced on social media.

In other videos shared on social media, passengers in the car with the controversial Limpopo rapper can be seen consuming alcohol.

Critics weighing in on the video questioned Shebeshxt's behaviour after he was involved in a car accident on June 8 on his way to a gig which left him seriously injured. His partner Kholofelo Moloto sustained moderate to serious injuries and the accident claimed the life of their nine-year-old daughter.

Some speculated the tragic incident was due to him driving under the influence of alcohol.

Shebeshxt took to his Facebook timeline to clear the air.

"Botse Taba Yaore Ke Kreile Accident Ke Nwele Le Ekwele Mang? Leraore Nkebe Ke Nwele Nkabe Kele Free Or Nkabe Ke Swerwi? Nou Sio Brown Bottle Ye Le E Bonang Kua Videong Kele Ka Koloing Le Sure Gore Ebe Enwa Kenna? Le Busy Kanna Too Much,Lesa Cheki Maphelo Alena,"  he wrote.

Loosely translated: "Where did you get the news that I was under the influence when I was involved in a car accident? If I were drunk would I still be free or would I have been arrested? Now you guys see a brown bottle with me in the car in a video, are you sure I was the one drinking it? You guys are too focused on me and are not checking your own lives."
