WATCH | Comedian Tebogo Ntlhane takes aim at illegal miners’ requests in spoof video

Comedian and uBettina Wethu actor Tebogo Ntlhane has taken aim at requests made by illegal miners in Stilfontein in a hilarious and spot on parody.

A man who emerged from the mines on Monday had a letter which presented a list of items they were requesting. The list included mayonnaise, tomato sauce, BB (pipe tobacco), beef, tinned fish, soap, washing powder and deodorant.

Tebogo's spoof video takes a lighthearted but pointed jab at the miners' non-essential requests. In the video, Tebogo presents an updated list of requests which include an air fryer, Wi-Fi password, foam bath and Egyptian cotton linen.  

“That illegal miners feel brave enough to make such outrageous demands speaks to deeper issues of corruption, inequality and social unrest,” he told TimesLIVE. 

“Satire is a way for people to process and comment on social, political and economic issues. I wanted to educate and make people aware of what’s happening around them. My comedy style is based on reality and using humour to challenge norms, spark discussions and provide perspectives that might otherwise go unnoticed.”

Tebogo said he plans to continue his efforts to educate and entertain. 

“I have big plans for 2025. I will be doing more acting projects but also producing films. With comedy, my followers can look out for the launch of my comedy night sessions at the Joburg Theatre ahead of my one-man show.”
