IN PICS | SA stars shine bright at the 'Mufasa: The Lion King' premiere in LA
It was a proud moment for South Africa as some of Mzansi's finest stars walked the red carpet at the premiere of Mufasa: The Lion King at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Monday.
The film, which premiered five months later than originally planned, features renowned stars including Seth Rogen, who plays Pumbaa, Billy Eichner as Timon, Donald Glover as King Simba and Beyoncé Knowles-Carter as Queen Nala. Beyoncé’s daughter Blue Ivy Carter plays Kiara, the daughter of Simba and Nala.
South African stars shone bright on the red carpet, with John Kani reprising his role as Rafiki and Kagiso Lediga joining the cast as young Rafiki. Thuso Mbedu also stars in the film as Junia, while renowned composer Lebo M will feature new songs in the film, collaborating with the talented Lin-Manuel Miranda.
Media personality Minnie Dlamini, who is not part of the cast, was also in attendance and walked the red carpet with Lebo M.
The premiere was a celebration of the film's music, drama, and stunning visuals, and the Mzansi stars in attendance were beaming with pride.
