The only surviving member of Sankomota, Moses Seokane, is set to perform for the first time at the popular annual Meet & Greet event at Gabo Pitori, Legonyane in Brits, North West, on Sunday.
The popular day and night event will feature Pretoria's finest DJs and artists including Kabaza, Keki 89DB, Phozes, Binz and Gee.
Moses, who has been watching the event grow over the years, expressed his excitement and gratitude for the opportunity to perform.
Speaking to TshisaLIVE this week, he said: “I’m very humbled by the invite as the only surviving member of Sankomota. I want to assure my fans that I’ll give my best on the day. They must come in big numbers to show their support. It’s been a journey doing it alone.”
Event organiser Kabelo “Pitori” Nkoane, who's a presenter for a leading horse racing brand, was full of praise for Moses.
“We feel very honoured to have such a legend in our line-up. Sankomota has always played a big role in the music industry and our main objective is to keep it alive. Our mission is to bring people together to promote cultural understanding and have fun. We also want to inspire people in my home village to strive for excellence in the difficult economy.”
Activities at the event include horse-riding, quad biking and a kiddies' corner.
The Meet & Greet at the farm market is an annual community-driven event which started two years ago.
Acclaimed afro-jazz fusion band Sankomota was formed in 1976. It consisted of several members, including the late Tsepo Tshola, the lead vocalist.
