5 Minutes with singer Msajo

Gospel singer Msajo shared with TshisaLIVE how he spread his wings into the acting industry.
The artist (real name Sandilisizwe Shange), who hails from Vryheid in KwaZulu-Natal, is well known for being part of television series Soul City 7 and worked on the international feature film Legend of the Black Snake and Netflix series Queen Sono, as the third assistant director. In 2019 Sandilisizwe had a featured role on Ifalakhe, the Mzansi Magic drama series.
Speaking to TshisaLIVE, the 41-year old says in 2020 he made an appearance on uZalo as a landlord, and he currently has a feature role on e.tv soap Durban Gen as a shisanyama manager.
“Last year I was part of the cast for Netflix series Umjolo, and I was proclaimed a best maskandi music video director. I directed the music video for Sama winner Khuzani, Sama nominee uQhoshangokwenzakwakhe, Umfaz’Omnyama, Cevuzile, Osaziwayo, Dumakahle and many other well-known maskandi and gospel artists,” he said.
In 2023, he released three single tracks, Umthandazo Wami featuring uSanele; My love featuring Miss Twaggy; and Isgubhu.
In 2024 Msajo released a gospel single track Ingadlangadla, followed by amapiano tracks Dubula and Bamba La, and recently an Afropop track featuring Fizzy B and Petee.
“I began my music career in 2008 with the soundtrack of my first film and released the single True or False in 2008, which was well received by the public and kwaito fans.”
