Actor Jesse Suntele and his wife, events and artist manager Thuthu Maqhosha, recently marked a milestone in their lives — their son's first birthday.

The proud parents pulled out all the stops to celebrate this special day with a Mickey Mouse-themed birthday party attended by close friends and family members, including DJ Zinhle.

The joyful occasion was also bittersweet, as the couple had initially been expecting twins but lost one of the babies during pregnancy.

Despite this challenging experience, Jesse and Thuthu chose to focus on the blessing of their surviving son and went all out to make his first birthday a memorable one.

“Elihle and Emihle turned 1 [on] December 16. Hai maaaani God and our ancestors ke di Star! The only thing that was missing was Elihle in the flesh but she was definitely there in spirit. What a perfect day. Our hearts and cups are overflowing,” Thuthu wrote.

Previously speaking about their chapter in parenthood, Thuthu told TshisaLIVE  how excited they were to live in every moment.

“We found out we were pregnant, [then] we found out we lost the twin. When we went for a check-up, as I was not well, we found out we are pregnant with twins but one did not make it.

“We're excited to meet our baby. Seeing what he/she will take from us and watching him/her grow into his/her own person. We are so excited. We look forward to the sleepless nights.”
