Mzansi's “youngest DJ”, DJ Teejay, attracted thousands to his performance at the Taung Kids Festival.

The event took place at the weekend and the young DJ is certain he'll do the same at the Christmas Party at the Second Eye Resort in Kuruman.

The DJ, whose real name is Tumelo Hlompho Merementsi, said the Taung Kids Festival was the biggest kids event he had seen.

“Shandis gave a lot of kids a chance to perform and showcase their talents. And they showed up. It's school holidays and I have time to do what I love without focusing on my books,” he said.

DJ Teejay is going to grade 5 next year. He said he did well this year and earned three academic awards at Laerskool Seodin in Kuruman in the Northern Cape.

“At the Christmas Party event, my fans should expect nothing but the best from me. I am going to show up and show off, as expected. I love music. I don’t just play for fame.

“For 2025, I want to improve my academics and take my music career more seriously. Get more gigs and travel more. I will be taking more gigs outside my province.”
