Kagiso Lediga is set to headline the inaugural Spirit Comedy Festival on Friday at Skyline, Kyalami on Main, Midrand.

The festival will celebrate the multifaceted spirit of South Africa, blending humour with themes of resilience, spirituality and revelry. It features a diverse lineup of comedians, including Celeste Ntuli, Tebogo Nthlane and Beach Body.

Adding to the excitement, Mzansi's power couple Gabi & Mo will perform some of their songs together.

Spirit: The Movie directed by Tebogo 'Tebza' Malope is a project we all are excited to back. This comedy show is one of the ways we put our muscle behind it. Bring the laughs, bring your wallet. We have a movie to finish,” said actor and comedian Kagiso.

The comedy show is a celebration of South African comedy and a fundraising event for Spirit: The Movie, an upcoming feature film adapted from the critically acclaimed music video Spirit by Kwesta and Wale.

Spirit was bigger than a music video. It was a cultural moment. We believe the film will be another cultural moment e so we have to include design, music, fashion, art and comedy in our process,” said Tebogo.

“I’m delighted that Kagiso, Celeste and other friends have jumped on board to put together the comedy show in support of the film. The show will not only help us to raise funds to complete the film and market the film but will also become the wrap party for the crew and cast who sacrificed so much to bring this important film to life.”

The Spirit Comedy Festival will be followed by the Spirit Art Exhibition at Usurpa Art Gallery, where art pieces will be on sale and Elo Zar will serenade attendees with a performance.
