Musician Yirha Sisulu is making a name for herself in the music scene.
The Johannesburg-born singer has an unwavering love for and deep connection with music.
TshisaLIVE caught up with the 24-year-old to chat about her journey in music and her future plans:
What prompted you to venture into the music industry?
I began singing when I was nine years old and my passion has deepened with time. Besides my vocal talent, I play five instruments — piano, tuba, ukulele, bass and guitar — each contributing a layer to my craft. I'm constantly writing, practising and performing. I spend most of my days working on music, striving to grow and reach new heights.
What is the highlight of your career thus far and where do you draw inspiration from?
Recently, I performed at Sophie Ndaba’s “She’s A Wonder” event, a significant moment in my journey as a performer. I'm influenced by artists such as Labrinth, Tyla, Dua Lipa and Amy Winehouse, and I continue to refine my sound, bringing in elements from these inspirations while exploring my unique musical voice.
What are your future plans?
I'm hoping to dive deeper into music by studying music business, production and songwriting, preparing myself to understand every aspect of the industry. I am passionate, talented and committed, so I am an artist to watch, blending my musical abilities with genuine compassion and curiosity.
