The Sello Maake kaNcube Foundation is said to be in a mess.

It is alleged that “struggling” families were happy when they found out that their children had been chosen to join the Sello Maake kaNcube Foundation incubation School in Dube Extension in Soweto. But now the children find themselves in a bad situation because they are no longer being treated well by the actor, one person wrote.

A source told TshisaLIVE the students went to another theatre and they found out that other schools give students money but at Sello's school they don’t get anything.

“They are given transport money per day as though they are young children and irresponsible. The money is not the same, sometimes it’s this amount, another time it’s that amount of money. This is unfair. Why don’t they get a fair and standard amount of money?” asked the source.

Another source said: “My sister and the other people attending there are attacked and every day they listen to problems from papers and stories on Facebook by Sello and he tells them he doesn’t care, he is the one with money. Our children are suffering. This is not Sello’s money but government money. He can’t abuse other people's children like this, it’s not right.”

It is being said that the teachers at the foundation funded by the department of sport, arts and culture are not motivated and are not teaching properly because they were not paid their salaries in December and there is not even a promise of payment for January.

A third source said: “This has been going on and on for long time and he scares everyone and says he’s big in papers and everyone knows him and no-one will destroy him. This man treats our children bad, bad too bad; you pay him for what? Our family had a bad December but he was posting everywhere about his good life but is eating government money and has no money to pay our children. I want my sister's money and I want it now, not month end.”

TshisaLIVE contacted the Sello Maake Ka Ncube Foundation's drama facilitator, Masego Thobega, who confirmed that she has not received a payment. “I'm waiting for one payment which he said I should expect soon, that's all I can say.”

When contacted by TshisaLIVE, Sello said: “I'm aware of the story you are talking about and I know who gave it to you. I will respond so don't put pressure on me ... please.”

Departmental spokesperson Zimasa Velaphi said they'll look into the matter.
