Gospel star Thinah Zungu to make reality show debut on Mzansi Magic

Multi-award-winning gospel singer Thinah Zungu is to star on a reality show on Mzansi Magic.

The Zungu family faces the challenge of being held to a higher moral standard while trying to raise their children and pursue their dreams. The Thinah singoZungu will premiere on Sunday on DStv Channel 161, at 7pm.

Mzansi Magic's Thinah singoZungu offers an exclusive glimpse into the lives of the Zungu family.

They juggle faith, fame, and fortune while living under the intense scrutiny of the Christian community. Set against the backdrops of iTheku (Durban), eNanda and Umhlanga, Thinah singoZungu paints a picture of the family’s contrasting worlds — from township pride to suburban luxury.

At the heart of the show, Thinah is a pastor with deep Christian values who embraces a flashy lifestyle that some may consider contradictory. Having risen from a shack to a mansion, Thinah believes he has earned his luxurious life, complete with designer clothes and a high-profile social circle. But with wealth and fame come criticism and the gospel star is not afraid to defy the norms.

Behind the scenes, Thinah’s wife, who is also a pastor, Zama (also known as uMaMtshali or Landlord), is fiercely protective of the family she runs like a lioness. With three children to raise — Ndumiso, Smanga and Olwethu — each child is on their own journey of self-discovery. The eldest, Ndumiso, is already a family breadwinner, a weight his siblings struggle to understand as they fight to create their own identities beyond the confines of their parents' religious expectations.

The show will explore universal themes of family vs fame, humility vs success and the price of chasing dreams. It pulls the curtain on the Zungu family’s journey, where each step towards greatness comes with its own cost.
